Monday
8 -10:15  Bench Rotations
8 – 9  Laboratory Medicine Lecture Series (Attendance and/or Lecturer on Microbiology Topics, ad hoc)
10:45-Noon:  Micro Laboratory Administrative Meeting
12:30-1:30  Pathology Grand Rounds or ID Journal Club
2 – 3 Micro Rounds
3 – 4  Tutorial (Attended or Taught by Fellow Depending on Level of Experience
 
Tuesday
8 –noon Bench Rotation
10-11.   Infection Control Staff Meeting
12:30 to 1:30 ID Conference (Required)
2 – 3 Micro Rounds
3 – 5 Research Projects/QA Activity
4:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Solid Organ Transplant Conference (optional)
 
Wednesday
8-9  Intercity ID Conference  (optional, although recommended)
9-11 Bench Rotation
11-noon Clinical Pathology Case Conference (Required – Both Micro and General Lab Management Issues Discussed)
11:15 – 12:15, Antibiotic Subcommittee of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee,
meets monthly (required, takes precedence over Clinical Pathology Case Conference)
12:30-2 Research Projects/QA Activity/Clinical Follow-up
2-3 Micro Rounds
3-3:30 Micro literature review ( ad hoc with attendings)
3:30 – 5  Plate Rounds Prep/Research Projects/Tutorials with Residents
 
Thursday
 
8-12 Bench Rotations/Clinical Work
11-11:15 CME for Micro Technologists (Dayshift)
12-1  Fellow/Resident Teaching Conf/Dept. Journal Club  (attendance for microbiology specific cases, plate rounds takes precedence)
12:30 to 1:30 Micro Plate Rounds
2-3 Micro Rounds
4-4:15 CME for Micro Technologists (Evening Shift)
3-5  Clinical Work/QA Activities/Research Projects
 
Friday
8 to 9 am  Immunocompromised Host Conference (highly recommended)
9-12 Bench Rotations/Clinical Work
12-1 Pathology Department Morbidity and Mortality Conference
12:30-2  Research Projects/QA
2-3 Micro Rounds
3-4 Micro Resident Tutorial
4-4:30  Weekly Summation with Attending
